Great video! The event review was very helpful accompaniment to the video coverage. There were some really funny parts too. Loved it!

So glad you enjoyed your trip! 🙂 It was great to hear you actually enjoyed the DDR Tournament and its a shame I didnt get to have a match with you as you’d left by the time I was able to start playing again 😛

And I smiled hearing you describe the Trocadero as the place with really aggressive security who ban cameras even though theres no notice or rule to say you can’t have cameras and if you ask them why they just say “…no cameras please”. Fun times!

I wish I could have went to expo but I couldn’t afford it or get the time off T_T

Anyway, most smaller UK cons (and I’m talking 400-1500 people here, in fact the biggest non-Expo con in the UK is 1500 if I recall correctly) are badged events. The vast majority of them however are pre-pay only for legal reasons, and those that do have on the door use a badge with a blank space for the name which is just written on with a sharpie. Same with last minute registrations.

Nemacon (which had an upper limit of 1000, but as it was a first year con that didn’t get massive advertisement got 300 I think, but was still a lot of fun) was wristband because rather than registering you bought a ticket from the venues box office either before hand or on the day and exchanged it for your wristband.

Thank BLOODY God! Someone else that understands how the game is -supposed- to work.

Also, according to XKCD, it ended a long time ago. http://xkcd.com/391/

Hmn funny, as a person that has been to many UK cons/events I wouldn’t say that MCM Expo is in anyway the best event to go to (for anime fans at least). I found it to be pretty much a glorified dealers room on my encounters but the cosplayers on the stairs outside are usually pretty cool to see in their entirety.

I love how you were talking about FREE HUGS signs and low and behold there was one in front of you. I’d like them a lot more if the people with the signs asked as many just jump on you!
